We love meeting in the middle of the week to encourage each other in the Lord, but there are also things we need to be doing in the Lord’s work. And, we have Awana club activities for more than 30 weeks of the year, which requires a lot of workers and energy, plus Bible studies and other activities, so we have adapted the traditional midweek service. We have an intentional spiritual focus each week, usually on Wednesday, but with flexibility for people with busy Wednesdays.
Acts 12:12 “Many were gathered together praying…”
The Bible commands us to pray. We know that we will not be able to accomplish anything for the Lord without His help (Zechariah 4:6 ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the LORD of hosts). On the first Wednesday of each month, we meet for a short Bible study and prayer meeting. (Nursery care is available for kids through age 4.)
1 Peter 4:9 “Be hospitable to one another”
The Bible commands us to be hospitable to one another. On the second Wednesday of the month, we participate in hospitality within our church family; sometimes giving, sometimes receiving. Participating in hospitality week just means opening your home or inviting someone to meet you some other place, or simply being invited!
Matthew 28:19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations…”
The Bible commands us to go out into the world. So, during this third Wednesday of the month, we participate in outreach and discipleship. This week is evangelism focused – we want to share the hope of Christ with those around us.
Galatians 5:13 “By love serve one another”
The Bible commands us to love and serve one another. On the fourth Wednesday of the month, we minister to each other. There are many needs and many lonely people within a body of Christ. We want to open our eyes to such needs and help to meet them.
Mark 3:35 “Whosoever does the will of God is my brother and my sister and mother”
The Bible says that we are a spiritual family. On the fifth Wednesday of the month, which happens once a quarter, we have a Victory family party. Sometimes we’ll meet at the church for a game night; sometimes we’ll invite the whole church to a potluck at a home; and sometimes we’ll surprise you!
